چکیده

Many walkability indices have been developed by considering a range of specific indicators. However, comfort indicators at the neighbourhood scale and effects thermal generally not accounted for in such research. To this end, we propose index (CWI) micro-scale. The proposed tool is based on two questionnaires, 330 respondents answered first questionnaire, to evaluate relative coefficient each indicator (Cis). second questionnaire 282 using simple random sampling technique assess scores selected factors (Sis). We tested CWI areas city centre Annaba, Algeria, calculated physiological Equivalent temperature (PET) RayMan software average summer days from 7 a.m. 8 p.m. when heat humidity peaks are observed. results show that over 95% suggested were estimated as being very important necessary. dependent PET values perception. highest 40.95% 25.23% Colonial Old town respectively, correlated with neutral sensation (20°C–26 °C). was changing rarely acceptable quality uncomfortable level depending scores, however, Town defined low despite variability scores. This paper highlights importance assessing pedestrian facilities microscale heeding promoting satisfying walking experience.

Thermal comfort assessment in comfort-prone workplaces.

This paper's main issue is a strong advocacy in favour of an a priori classification of thermal environments that can be really functional to comfort assessment: Class 1, environments where comfort conditions can be established (comfort-prone environments), and Class 2, environments where this is not practically feasible. The former, which are also identified here as 'thermally unconstrained' e...

Introduction to thermal comfort standards

The aim of this paper is to describe existing ISO standards and current activity concerned with thermal comfort. It describes how an ISO standard is produced from a new work item proposal (NP) to publication as an international standard (ISO). A framework is provided for the assessment of ISO standards and their revisions. Standards should be valid, reliable, useable, and with sufficient scope ...

Ecosystem Biomimicry: A way to achieve thermal comfort in architecture

The strategies to reduce the consumption of non-renewable energies in buildings are becoming increasingly important. In the meantime, nature-inspired approaches have emerged as a new strategy to achieve thermal comfort in the interiors. However, the use of these approaches in architecture and buildings requires a proper understanding regarding the features of ecosystems. Although acquiring this...

Thermal comfort: multisensory interactions?

Experimentally, the effects of environmental conditions upon human capabilities have been studied most often through the imposition of a single stressor in isolation. Although it seems to be a common belief that thermal comfort can be influenced by concomitant stimulation of non-tactile sensorial modalities, few studies have succeeded in delineating non-tactile stimulations, which interact with...
